Dr. Qiuran Wang
Principal Investigator (PI)
Institute for Philosophy II, Ruhr-Universität Bochum
Qiuran Wang is a visiting researcher at Ruhr University Bochum’s Institute of Philosophy II, having completed a PhD in Psychological Sciences at the University of Padova, Italy, where she worked at the Neuroscience of Movement Laboratory (NeMo). She is a researcher deeply committed to understanding the behaviors of non-neural organisms through a multidisciplinary lens. Qiuran previously focused on the study of pea plant cognition by examining the decision-making behavior and cognitive models through 3D trajectory analysis, kinematic analysis, and machine learning approaches. Her current work examines associative learning in slime molds, combining empirical experimentation with robust data science methodologies. Her research extends beyond empirical studies, as she collaborates with scholars in the philosophy of mind and biological philosophy to investigate the theoretical foundations of cognition. Driven by a passion for independent and cross-disciplinary research, she is dedicated to fostering inclusive and equitable academic spaces that nurture innovation and collaboration.
